Queensland’s landmark coercive control laws, effective 26 May 2025, make patterns of domestic abuse a standalone offence, recognising nonphysical abuse as serious harm. Queensland’s new domestic violence laws, introduced in August 2025, give police stronger powers to protect victims immediately.
